The retrospective article was very good - if the makers of the next game focus on the aspects mentioned there rather than snazzy graphics, it will be great.

Well, System Shock 3 it isn't. It's bioshock, which they're trying to sell as the spiritual successor to SS2. No connection to the storyline of the System Shock series, no shodan, just open ended gameplay.

The weapon system seems interesting, and I'm fond of that kind of modularity. The biomodification is semi-interesting, if not exactly groundbreaking. The 'simply the interface' comment worries me. Everything I've heard about DX:IW leads me to believe that 'simply the interface' could easily become dumb down the game. But, I'm hopeful.

These guys have proven they know how to make a deep, intelligent shooter, let's just hope they havent lost thier edge...

Going by the recent trend (Thief 3, DX:IW) it's not looking in our favor.
