Default Spacing between units in a line

When you drag a group spearmen/pikemen (say 4 units) to form a battle line, there should be no space between the units. Either you have to spend a ridiculous amount of time closing the gaps in the line manually or the swordsmen/cavalry that hit them will inflict heavy loses when they just prance through the holes and start chopping at their sides. It doesn't hurt swordsmen so much as they'll just turn and face the enemy and start hacking back, but for spearmen in guard mode, it means a lot of unneccessary casualties because there's a 3 foot gap between each unit. Please fix.

Could this be a call for a new formation that means that that units can stand shouler to shoulder at the touch of a button. It would be a change for the better.
Am not fully informed but the graphics look nice but to be honest all previous incarnations were rubbish even though I don't know that for sure

but they have to be out of phalanx for it to work
