I cant believe how rich you get as the Greeks. Once you control the Aegean sea and build up your ports and markets you get MASSIVE amounts of cash a year. The Collassal (sorry spelling) of Rhodes just increases it too! Just look at this pic!!!

    Charge, repeat as necessary.

Yup, they are rich. It's mostly the Collosus of Rhode though. Sea trade is the best way to make money in the game. The Colossus gives 40% extra. It's ridiculous. Maybe 10% or 15%, but more is just too much. So if you want money, just go for the Colossus.
The Greeks would still be rich without it, but a bit more in normal proportions to the rest.

Yeah my Aegean looks very similar - just earlier in the game so it isn't quite that big, yet. I love how a flourishing trade network actually looks like one.

From my experience, the Colossus only adds its bonus to Rhodes' income. I'm using the Parthians and the Eastern Mediterrenean is also very rich. Jerusalem, Antioch, Sidon, Salamis and Tarsus are raking in very large amounts of money.

It's around 226 B.C. and I have almost 400,000 denarii even though I'm building structures every turn in every province nonstop.

I'm close to conquering Kydonia and Pergamum and have just recently conquered Rhodes, Sardis and Halicarnassus. 1 more wonder to go for me.

I'm now making 40k a turn in my Julii campaign (214 BC, ~30 provinces, ~800,000 denari; and I build non-stop; normal to low tax).

The next faction I'll play is the Greek States (it's the first faction I really wanted to play but....). Just by looking at that screenshot, I know i'm gonna clean up!

I can't wait for my balanced army of phalanx, archers and cavalry!

I think the 40% increase from the Collosus is because at the time it was THEE trading hub(maritime) of the med.In later years they upset the Romans who then gave all sorts of trading concessions to one of the Greek cities controlled by Athens. They simply rolled in the cash until they too upset the Romans.

That's amazing. I've unlocked the Greeks, guess I better give them a try.

i've noticed the egyptians are pretty rich too. i've taken a laid back, non-aggressive approach to my campaign w/ them (mostly building up roads, ports, farms, markets, etc.), and in about three years i've already surprassed my income playing as the julii in 50 years (well, i suppose the whole massive army thing would explain a great deal of my julii's modest treasury).
