Question the ganme crashes when i win the campaign

After i the won the game by defeating the last roman faction setlement the scroll comes up to ask you what you want to do with the city (accupy, enslave or kill all) after i make a option the game crashes and goes off. It does the same when i click on the senate scroll and the faction destroyed scroll.
I cant win the campaign because of that.

also on the main menu, when i move my mouse i get this wholse line of mouses and when i click on new game or anywhere else the old screen still stays there and the new screen come up 2 so i can hardly see anything whats on the menu.

does anyone know how to fix these problem.

do your specs meet the min requirements? would you mind telling me what they are? I had that mouse shadow thing when i tried to play civilization 3 on my old 486, maybe your drivers just need an upgrade, if not, defrag your computer, have it nice and clean so it can perform as best it can

    Xp
    intel pentium 4 2.80ghz
    1.00 gb memory
    Geforce 4 mx

The game lags a bit on both startegic map and battle map.
I suppose it should meet the lminimum requirements

This might have nothing to do with your crashes, but you should think about upgrading that graphics card.

Sounds like a save game corruption. Did it always have the wierd effects in the menu? You might be able to go back a few saves and find one that was not corrupt. If on the other hand it has always done this, then you need to check your DX9 install and find appropriate drivers for that card. Unfortunately, the latest drivers are not always the best choice for older cards. Also make sure your Windows Media player 9 install is running properly. You don't want it trying to use Divx for the video.

No offense, but the GF4 MX is waaaaayyyyy obsolete. It's a GF2 core with a misleading name (ahhh, Marketing.) GF2's were designed for DX7, so any DX8 or DX9 specific effects like shaders have to be emulated in software. They imply otherwise, but that is Marketing for you. MX cards are always low end. The 5200 is another variant of the MX series, a bit faster and updated, but still based on very old architecture.

If it turns out to be a save game problem, remember to only save at the beginning of each turn (when you get back control from the AI after endturn.) This has been the best way I have found of avoiding corruptions in the TW series. It was a big issue with MTW late in campaigns.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

Mine runs fine on a GF5.

Did you install the directx off the rome cd when you already had 9.0c?

Because if you did, that could be the error (conflict)

Well i know GF4 is quite old but most games still work pretty fine on it.
I tried the game from the same cd on a friends pc nad it works pretty good without the menu bug. I saw that the menu was animated in which case mine is not, its like the rome demo menu only a single pic. I also found out that I have no movie in the intro of the game and of the prologue, i didnt know that it had them.

I installed media format 9 and DX9 from The Tw cd.
Its not the Savegame problem because all other savegames do the same thing.

Also the game dont start a few days after its installed.
When i click on the icon the game starts alright until when the screen with all the logos and trademark thing comes up then the game goes off.
I hav to uninstall and isntall it again so i can play it. I do that like 3 times a week

With regards to the video: there is probably an issue with the file associations on your machine. Avi's should be tied to Media Player 9. This has happened a few times, particularly with Divx codecs installed.

You didn't understand me with regards to the video card. The "GF4 MX" is not a GF4. It is a GF2 core with a GF4 name. GF4 was a nice enhancement of the GF3 architecture, but that is not (edit: it said "now" arggg) what an MX card is. MX is the tipoff about the true nature of the card. GF4 would be fine, but GF2 is bottom end. So while the RTW box says "All Nvidia GeForce 3 and higher" that doesn't mean a "GF4 MX" is necessarily going to provide acceptable performance, because it is not really a GF4 core. Blame NVidia for their marketing slight of hand. Hence folks have suggested a vid card upgrade. People usually do whenever they see MX in the name.

You might be able to change some settings to improve menu performance. GF2's ran better in 16 bit, but I'm not sure if the menu's can be made to run that way.

    Good luck.
