    Processor: P4 3.0GHZ (not overclocked)
    RAM: 512MB@433MHZ Kingston
MB: ASUS P4-800 Delux or something.
Soundcard: Onboard ( big FPS hog)
Video Card: Tried both GF4 Ti4200 128mb and GF4 5800FX Ultra 256MB and it makes no difference.

Resolution: 1280x986 (or whatever), everything on highest, glints and desycn turned on.

Changing the video settings however makes no difference in performance, which leads me to believe to get 14,000 battles with AI (multiplayer runs OK) to run smoothly is going to require a much better processor.

    My system
    - P4 2,0 GHZ
    - 512 MB DDR Ram
    - ATI Mobility Radeon M6-P (32 MB)

has handeled about 5000 Units, only Problem: Textures on battlefield are very low and shadows don´t work. But units are fine in high detail just as the buildings...

I was positively surprised by that, as the demo didn´t work on my system. Anyway, I bought Rome..(these total war games are addictive..)
From the pride and arrogance of the Romans nothing is sacred. But the vindictive gods are now at hand. On this spot we must either conquer, or die with glory

I have a fairly high spec machine:

    P4C @ 3.7ghz
    1 gig DDR500
    6800GT @ 415/1100
    2 x 120 gig Maxator hdd's (Raid 0)

One of the first things i did when i got the game was tried a HUGE battle. Had every setting on highest (except AA which was at medium). Setup a bridge battle with 5 armies all fighting against me (just for a laugh :D ). Must have been about 10000 troops - RTW warned me i had exceeded the recommended limit (etc etc)

When the game started it wasn't too bad, but as the enemy troops all started crossing the bridge and my 8 archer units let loose with fire arrows i started getting about 1 frame per 5 seconds :(

If your penis was 35 inches long you'd probably die if I showed you some porn. I mean you only have so much blood

I don't know how many I can handle but that historical MP battle with julii + senate vs. gaul and germania got a little slow at the start but still pretty smooth....that must have been about 5000
