Default Romans went to the barbarian academy!!!

Now that the civil war is almost over it is so funny how most of my Gaul battles were so much harder, they actually attacked in 1 huge line. But the A.I. Romans fight rediculously. Usually they do'nt attack with 1 big battle line unlike the Gauls where it was basically a 90 percent chance they would. The Romans throw unit after unit just for me to make piecemeal of them.

The A.I. sucks now with one known tactic.

If we stick together we stand a much better chance of surviving.

Hmm does Hollywood make more sense here!!!!!!!

I finally figured out why MTW kicked my butt it's because I tried to micromanage units making me a 10 flank army. Now when I advance I usually do'nt let unengaged units advance in front of the fighting units leaving no gaps.

I've been a sucker for so long letting the comp pull all those dirty tricks, causing me to expose a flank and boom the comp is hitting it right away.

Well anyways fighting the Romans is so annoying they do'nt even use there famous box formations for units giving them no depth. Sure there line is over twice as long as mine on equal numbers but what's the purpose of flanking if there center has been decimated allowing me to flank out.

Why does'nt the A.I. just attack in 1 big mass with a few reserves to plug gaps

This was the roman tactic. Three battle lines, the first weakens the enemy and withdraw, the second takes him down or withdraw and the third either congratulates the first two lines or makes the final stand.

Yes ktonos but sening in 1 unit at a time does not represent that

Seeing the same thing in my German game.. I only played a short Brutii campaign to get the factions unlocked so had not fought against romans before...

My German (Hard/Very Hard) campaign was going well and I had taken most of Gaul and the Britons are trapped in Briton... My armies had performed exceptionally well against the usually larger Gaul warbands (stomped the Britons quick so I would be have to face charots)...

I was worried when I first had to fight a large Roman (Julii) army, but as oaty pointed out they charge in one big bunch with individual units running forward to engage (at least they actually throw the pilium (spelling?))... The Gaul and Briton battlelines looked better organised!!!!
