Thread: Is Egypt too strong?

    Default Is Egypt too strong?

On medium difficulty, I send two light cavlry to chase after their chariot archers. (I'm seculids). I'm handling other matters, and I check back a short while later and found both those units routing with 2 or 3 cavs left, and Egypt's chariot archers are still almost full force!

    Much later on...

their bowman had run out of arrows and charge my silver shieled phalanx (in phalanx formation). Their one unit has 60 guys, so it matches up perfectly with my 3 units of phalanx. I figure easy win for me. Not so... theiir bowman managed to kill all the phalanx except maybe 20 left (all 3 of my units combined barely had 20 guys left--total!) The bowman still had half the unit left! A cav charge got rid of them but this is just absurd!!!

and early on the battle, I had my phalanx engage their phalanx and using heavy cav, I charged their rear. I ended up losing more guys then they did!??
the same move agains the greek hoplits decimated them with very little losses.

And yes they have very ridiculously powerfull troops. Desert axemen are as powerfull as hoplites and are wearing no armor. Their chariots ride through all cavalry, even cataphracts and are faster than all light cav. And their archers are deadly !!

They are usually the most advanced faction on the game, 9/10 times you will get the most advanced faction message and it will be egypt.

As the selucide it is imperative to trash the egyptian before they get powerful...and you will suffer horrible battle results very very offten...however as Selucide they are not that tough unless you let them evolve...hit them hard from the begining...

In a historic sense, yes, Egypt seems too powerful. They really dominate the region.

Several of the Egyptian units have stats that do not make much sense, especially the 11 armour desert axemen without shirts or armour. There is also the 5 shield pharaoh's guard...who don't have shields when you see them on the field. Another cav unit has twice the shield rating it should have with its small shields. The pharaoh's bowmen are super deadly. And to top it all we have chariots that are overly mobile and fast. In short, many of the Egyptian units seem to pack considerably more punch than they should.
