Thread: Construction income ???

    Default Construction income ???

I just noticed in financial scroll that i have construction income of 1500 for all my cities.
this is quite weird because i cant see any construction income when i look at each city separately.
i did some math but this nubmer apparently is some kind of plug between all kinds of income (trade, farms taxes etc) and overall income number.
help on understanding this mysterious income will be appreciated.

I have no idea where a lot of my income goes/comes from.

It would be nice to right click on each of the numbers in the "end of turn report" and it would give you a breakdown of where each dollar comes from - but alas, it won't be

The only thing I can think of where you got income from construction would actually be deconstrucion. Where you looted buildings and demolished them otherwise it would be an expeniture and if you did'nt select to build buidings then it would be a town that is being automanaged and they built the building

LONEWARRIOR income is based on population so when you recruit a unit there population for that city goes down. Hopefully you know how income per city works because its a tough one to explain

If you queue up a building this turn, it is an expense for this turn. If you cancel it at a later turn, before it starts building, the game counts the refund as income.

Also, your cities pay out X amount in army upkeep depending apon size. The larger the size of the city the more they pay, so when you train troops and reduce the population you're reducing the amount the city has to pay as well. You really don't have to worry about what individual cities make, only your empire as a whole.

In general, I agree with you. However, some cities will cost you more to keep than they generate, i.e. in some the cost to pacify (upkeep of garrison, construction of happiness buildings), as well as cost of defence of the province itself, (upkeep of units in the field, e.g. at mountain passes, bridges) will be more than the province is ever likely to generate.

In such situations, there are a number of alternatives, including revolt and massacring discontented peasants, giving the province to a rival to curry favour or for diplomatic leverage, or just striping the assets and leaving it for the Rebels/anyone else who can be bothered with it.

Of course, for strategic reasons, you may be willing to bear the expense to protect more profitable assets.

The problem is that you have to calculate this all yourself as the Income metric the game uses is next to useless for such determinations.
