Problems with economy

Well.. I've just taken over Sweden and Norway. I am the Danes in the early period. I have built this in Sweden and Denmark: Copper mine, 20% Farm, Port. I have about 10 units of Vikings, 4 units of Cavalary (King, and 3 princes), 2 archers and 2 peasents. What am I doing wrong ? I've picked 'Very High Taxes' in every province, and I'm still -118. When I push the money button, I have 4 provinces listed, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Skagerakk ? What is Skagerakk doing there ? I push on it and see that this is the province that makes me loose money. Help

Skagerrak is a sea region. You should only have boats (if anything) in the region, and thus shouldn't be losing too much money.

How about provinding a breakdown of income/expenses per province?

You have way too many units and not nearly enough provinces. You should make a ship and invade lithuania ASAP. Then trade - via chain of ships - with England. Making money is a struggle early on for the Danes.

Don't build that many units unless you're ready to invade. You should take out the Novgorods and Rebels in the East. Then go south agains the Byzantines, the Turks and the Egyptians. Beat the Almohads and Spain. Then move west by beating the Poles and Hungary (If you haven't taken care of the Poles yet).

You must build a lot of ships for trade If you want to, you can invade Spain by ship too. All you do is link your forces from the Iberian peninsula through North africa with your main Forces that's taking on the Byzantines, the Turks and Egypt. That way, you can start building ships in Spain too, and make a lot trades with that.

kill the germans. it's your best chance - you won't get excommed as they are larger than you.

You don't actually have to put them in the ship - this confused me when I started playing. What you need is a ship in each sea area between where you start and where you're going. Once this chain of ships is in place, you move the army straight to its destination.

Oh, and you also need a port in the province from which your army is leaving. This means that if there isn't a port in the province you're going to, your army might get stuck there. Which can be a bad idea for province loyalty if the army contains your King.
