Huge are boring because of the unplayability in command personal especially city fights...

However large or a custom between large and huge is great...the normal or smaller unit sizes take away a lot of the feeling and balance...

Huge units DESTROYS my video card. I have a 2.8 ghz comp and 1 gig of RAM, but my video card is a bargain bin radeon 9600 se. I haven't seen slowdown like this for a long time. TIme to get a new video card, methinks.
"Sit now there, and look out upon the lands where evil and despair shall come to those whom thou lovest. Thou hast dared to mock me, and to question the power of Melkor, master of the fates of Arda. Therefore with my eyes thou shalt see, and with my ears thou shalt hear; and never shall thou move from this place until all is fulfilled unto its bitter end". -Tolkien

The gameplay is far better, but now it just keeps on crashing in battles. Joy.
Love is a well aimed 24 pounder howitzer with percussion shells.

Huge does make for impressive battles. The horrible way units move in cities makes it unplayable though. The difference between huge and large when it comes to sieges is like day and night.

I know I won't be playing with huge size any time soon. Unless they improve it.

I really love huge units, especially when playing with the barbarians. You learn to value every unit, even the cheapest peasants, as losing 240 men means losing 1/4 of the town's population the unit was recruited from...

I can really recommend it: play as the germans, with huge units, on very hard/very hard. I think it is the most challenging of all the startups i've ever had in this game. (besides of the greeks maybe, but their main challenge is the rather spread out starting position , and the early invasion by the brutii and scipii)

About cities: they are a real pain with huge units, but defense is still better than attacking. Attacking with huge units is .. well... a chaos. You loose way too many men to the wall defences, and huge units take a lot of time to pass the wall, and to re-group on the other side, during which time the enemy will happily slaughter them.

Because of the heavy losses an assault can cause, i find myself letting the besieged city starve out more often. They will have to break out sooner or later anyway, at which point i'll be waiting for them outside the walls.

All in one, huge unit size not only makes the game feel more epic, it also adds quite a lot of strategic depth in some cases.

    My 2 cents

Well You're right. Defending a city seems better with huge units. But uhm. I always plan NOT te be on the defending side

i like huge achers becouse 240 (at once)arows flying on to dencely packed troops one word art
but 240 infinty are no manuverable the same proble with calvary one man runs in to a infintry and the whole unit stops and this stopes you flanking atempet.
so i paly with normall or large
i wish you could pick sive of all units like
    achers: small, normal, large, huge
    infintry: small, normal, large, huge
    spearmen/pikemen/hoplites: small, normal, large, huge
    calvery: small, normal, large, huge
    chariots: small, normal, large, huge
horse calvery: small, normall, large, huge
if this was so then i would play with
    achers: huge
    infintry: norrnal
    spearmen/pikemen/hoplites: small or normal
    calvery:small
    chariots:huge
    horse calvery: normal

Thank god RTW doesn't require us to have good spelling skills, right smoothie? LOL, JK.

I've been playing the game at default (medium?) unit sizes so far. My infantry had about 40 per unit, and cavalry 27 per unit.

How is large compared to medium?

Large is double the size of medium in RTW. Huge is double the size of Large and so on...
