However, there is no real information provided by the devs on how it ACTUALLY works. Just a lot of good speculation by members here on the org. and other forums.
Totally agreed. I'm not sure I want equations (in fact, I'd rather not), but I would like a lot more feedback/info about the effectiveness of some actions versus others diplomacy-wise. There's so much that's ill- or un-defined. I'll be the first to admit that the guide I've been maintaining is a best-guess, what's-worked sort of thing that may turn out to be based on completely false assumptions. But, it's the best we've been able to come up with so far.

I hope my post didnt lead you to think that your guide wasnt good. In fact, its the best I have read on the game thus far.

Basically I am pretty dissapointed with any game manual now. The days of novel thick manuals is gone... Everything is up to the gamers speculation.

Yes, I don't know what happened... gone are the days of the nice thick manuals loaded with tons of very good info. MS, surprisingly, did a great job cranking out manuals for Age of Kings/AOE:TC that were loaded with great info and strategies from the developers themselves. Ah well, we do what we can.

I agree. The RTW manual is what, 55 pages?

The Combat Mission, beyond Overlord manual,(great game by the way,) has over 180 fully detailed pages. There was even a walkthrough for the tutorial. When I jumped into the game, I knew enough to get right down to business. The RTW manual was ok, but too much stuff was still left out.

I haven't seen any of the manuals mentioned in the last two posts... who makes them? Is it the developer or is it Prima/Brady/someone else?

One of the people from CA who posts here joined a thread in the Colosseum about the manual. According to him, the publishers rejected the much larger manual that CA wanted to include with the game. As seems to happen with most games these days, it was shelved because it would cost the publisher too much and not fit in the European game packaging (DVD-style boxes).

    Oops, I'm getting a bit off-topic. Apologies

I dont blame CA at all for the manual. I wonder how many of their good ideas were shot down because of the marketers. It has to be frustrating for them...
