    Default Editing unit sizes

I attempted to edit the unit sizes to make them equivalent to the MTW unit sizes ie; spearmen have 100, swordsmen have sixty etc. but when I tried to see if it worked the game crashed on me. Anyone know how to mod this without it crashing to the desktop?

You would have to make them 20 for cav and 30/50 for infantry. These sizes are 4 times as big in huge unit setting and the game only supports up to 256 men. So if you make a 100 men unit that would turn into a 400 man unit on huge.

But surely the games 80 man units when played on huge must be 320 men which is more than 256. Unless I'm missing something (I hope I am) ?

The unit file has sizes of 27 men for cavalry and 40/60 for the infantry units. The 80 men units you see comes from playing on large unit setting and thats because large setting = default unit size x2.

From the menu in RTW you click on Options then Video settings then enable advanced video settings (small box) There you will find Unit Scale. It has 4 options: small, medium, large and huge. Large is default setting IIRC and gives the 80/120 men infantry units, huge is double that.

I might have dreamed this...but I think some low spec machines might be defaulting to smaller unit sizes. I could have sworn I saw some sort of post about the installer setting this lower if you have low end components.

RTW optimises for your PC specs. I installed at home and at work. At home (Geforce 2) unit sizes defaulted to 20 and at work they defaulted to larger sizes.
