Sarmatians < Archer Warband

Man, those Archer Warbands must have some kind of bonus fighting Cav - cause they sure take charges well. My Sarmatians got worked on an open field by a lone Archer Warband. 2 Charges and I only killed 20 of them. Are Sarmatians' 17 Charge Bonus negated by the Archer's Shirtlessness ? I'm really lost on this one - I thought Cav were supposed to counter archers - with that kind of charge bonus you would expect them to ride over prettymuch anything - especially archers!

I can see the Illyrians withstanding them.... ok actually I can't see anything that is less than Heavy Infantry standing up to a 17 Charge Bonus without taking at least a quarter of their troops down each charge. I thought they would be the amazing Cavalry I've been expecting from the Steppe but I'm very sorely disapointed with them. Not only do they not charge and take down many troops but they get SLAUGHTERED by archers with knives! What is that? what? oh it looks like scaled armour all over their bodies.

Maybe they're chainsaw knives.

afaict, you don't get your charge bonus against skirmishers, or at least the game feedback gives no indication of it.

The problem, I think is that your state is "pursuing" when chasing skirmishers. They turn on a dime, and you start meleeing, but there's no charge bonus, no crash. (notice how you rarely see skirmishers tumbling all over, as you'd normally see with a charge face to face into infantry). Whether this is bug or feature, I do not know.

Unfortuantely, that makes pursuing even moderately tough skirmishers with light cav problematic if the skirmishers turn around and fight.
