When a fox kills your chickens, do you kill the pigs for seeing what happened? No you go out and hunt the fox.
Cry havoc and let slip the HOGS of war
An excellent idea.
All this could be solved by allowing a dead guy to be right clickable and it would bring up his character sheet - that would have age, whether he was faction leader or heir, attributes, retinue, etc.

I like the sound of that Jimbo.
Theres not much more i can say.I just wanted to add my support to a brilliant idea.Really hope to see something like this added in the expansion. :)
I pledge allegiance to the underworld One nation under dog,There of which I stand alone,A face in the crowdUnsung, against the mold
Without a doubt
Singled out
The only way I know
Stepped out of the line,Like a sheep runs from the herd
Marching out of time,To my own beat now
The only way I know
One light, one mind,Flashing in the dark
Blinded by the silence of a thousand broken hearts
"For crying out loud" she screamed unto me
A free for all,Screw 'em all
You are your own sight
I want to be the minority,I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority,I want to be the minority
i'll second this, and also suggest that you still be able to view dead characters traits, eg. the portrait is still grayed over but as suggested when you mouseover you get a little R.I.P message and still be able to see their stats. I get quite attached to some of the early generals, you know the one who has 5-8 famous battles strewn across the land and every good vice plus one bad one maxxed to the hilt. It would be cool to be able to go through the tree at later stages in the game, and say check his v&v's vs his offspring, i know it'll be different but it could add a nice touch of continuity.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think it would really help with the immersion of the game. Treasuring the memory of family members as they die honourably on the battlefield and then enacting sweet revenge on their murderers. The family tree would then become and more important part of the game and provide the backbone for stories of your imperial campaign.
Edit: troymclure's idea would be the best in the interim and shouldn't be difficult to introduce, maybe not even requiring an expansion...
