I don't really agree that thier latest album wasn't as good, there was some AWESOME tracks on it - Hysteria and Stockholme Syndrome to name two. They do rock, hard.

All a real man needs is a cigarette, a cup of coffee and a solo by Miles Davis. (Truffaut dixit)

Man, I can't pick a favorite, not even 10-20 favorites. Music has been a huge part of my life for most of my life. But here are some artists that I like, that were a big influence on the musical me:

CLASSICAL CHILDHOOD/ADOLESENCE (private classical piano studies, age 8-20):
Chopin (Etudes, Waltzes, Preludes, Fantasy Impromptu, Polonaises, Ballade in G Minor)
Liszt (Liebestraume, Hungarian Rhapsodies)
Debussy (Claire De Lune, La Mere, Children's Suite)
Beethoven ("Moonlight," Apassionata, Waldstein sonatas)
JS Bach (Preludes and Fugues)

EARLIEST POP INFLUENCES/ALBUMS:
Chicago (Chicago IX, first non-classical album)
Peter Frampton (Frampton Comes Alive!) DON'T LAUGH--HE WAS A BIG DEAL BACK THEN!
Queen (Queen II, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races)
Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here)
Led Zeppelin (All through The Song Remains the Same)
Aerosmith (Rocks, Toys in the Attic)
Van Halen (I, II)
Lynyrd Skynyrd (Billy Powell, Honky tonk piano master - met him)
Kiss (All through Kiss Alive II)

PROGRESSIVE YEARS:
Queen
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Rush
Kansas (BIG TIME fan of these guys; Magnum Opus! Icarus, Born on Wings of Steel)
Saga (VERY underrated Canadian supergroup)
April Wine
Boston
Early Genesis; Peter Gabriel
Deep Purple (Hammond B3 mania - John Lord ROCKED)
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (more B3 mania, Brain Salad Surgery)
King Crimson (DISCIPLINE!)
Jean Michel Jarre (ah ... the roots of new age and electronica)
Kitaro ( " )
Vangelis ( " )
Isao Tomita ( " )
Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer/Mahavishnu Orchestra (Jazz/rock fusion)
Al Dimeola ( " ; Elegant Gypsy)
Sex Pistols/PIL (the ONLY REAL Punk)
Journey (yeah ok, go ahead and laugh; I grew up in California so ...)

SEMI-PRO/PRO YEARS:
Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO, from Japan)
The Cars (these guys were just too cool)
The Police
Berlin (Is she Bi?; Sex I'm a, Masquerade, Metro)
MISSING PERSONS (OMG ... loved MP; US Drag!)
Motels (Only the lonely ...and then suddenly, last summer .... )
Pretenders (Im gonna make you, make you notiiice ...)
Billy Idol (played almost all of Rebel Yell every night for two years in nightclubs throughout the western US, 1984-85)
UFO/Michael Schenker/MSG
The Scorpions
ABC (Brit technofunky land)
Thompson Twins ( " )
Scritti Politti (NYC technofunky land)
The System ( " )
Depeche Mode (technopop's dark side)
Yaz/Erasure (technopop's light side)
Pet Shop Boys (technopop's dance floor kings)
Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Relax! Such naughtiness is so appealing)
Prince (a musical and entertainment genius)
Jan Hammer (Miami Vice; perhaps my all-time favorite "keyboardist")

THE AFTERLIFE:
Nine Inches Nails (Trent Reznor is another genius)
Patrick O'Hearn
Prodigy
Enya
Hard Floor (Germany)
Gypsy Kings
Oasis

RECENT:
???

I have been out of touch musically for quite a while. Living in the past I guess, as nothing has caught and held my attention recently. Based on what I've shared here, does anyone have suggestions of music I might like that is current? As you can see, I've fairly eclectic tastes ... .

P.S. Sasaki: very surprised to read your faves ... interesting how musical tastes often breach the time barrier, as evidenced throughout this thread.
