This game is buggy beyond belief...

Seriously, who's decision was it to release this game? If they even playtested this thing for a WEEK they'd have half of the bugs everyone's complaining about removed. This game is a joke as it is right now in single player mode. If they expect people to pay $50 for a new game, they'd better damn well make the effort to release a product that isn't RIDDLED with bugs that make the game UNPLAYABLE.

You might as well say "Hey, we're releasing the game now, but expect about 50 patches after it comes out to actually "finish" the game, which we failed to do before releasing it". "And oh yeah, here's a nice big bottle of KY, you're going to need it."

I don't even want to start listing all of the stupid things wrong with this game because anyone that's played it for a few days could tell you inumerable problems with it. My only real question now is how long did the friggin pc game review magazines play it for? There are seriously crippling bugs in this game and I have no idea how anyone could enjoy it after your population is over 25,000 at any city.
Whoever was in charge of the AI in this game should be taken out back and shot. The pathing of your troops is pathetic in a siege. Some of the most BASIC things that should be right with the game are horribly fouled. I can't even begin to imagine the kind of balls it takes to release a game filled with this many bugs. Thank god for Bittorrent.

My game has been enjoyable from the moment I loaded it onto my computer. I havnt had one crash to the desktop.. more than I can say about ANY newer game these days. I dont have a single complaint about Rome Total War!

The only things that I have voiced on this forum are not complaints but oppinions.. which any good dev can use to continually improve on his/her product.

Before you start complaining on here take a deap breath and decide if its really worth insulting the devs because your ripped off version of the game wont work, or the game wont work on a computer that you havnt dowloaded drivers onto for 5 years.

If you have a real problem, voice it in a adult manner and everyone here in the community would be happy to help you.

when playing with defalt sive units there are no problem (huge units if no space on street start walking on buildings)

ryanjm when are you releasing your new game? you seem like you know how they're supposed to be made and I'm really looking forward to a game that is bug-free out of the box, I've yet to find one. Oh yeah - you say it's unplayable? I've been playing it for weeks... maybe I'm delusional.

There are problems - but there are problems for almost every mass-produced consumer good out there. Recalls, patches, updates, customer support - these are all things created so that we can have all of these things sooner rather than later. It would probably take them ten times longer trying to test the game to perfection than release it to weed out all of the bugs in the game by feedback and then release a patch.

Well, the game is not perfect, but it's not very buggy for being a commercial release. It's a bit hungry on the graphic side, but which game is not these days.

I agree that there are too many bugs and imbalances in an otherwise incredible game. It is not unplayable but it is very very frustrating at times.

There have been a few times already that I wanted to play but said, "Nah I'll wait till the patch comes out before I start a new Rome campaign". And that is quite dissapointing.....

But ryanjm your tone is all wrong. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. That kind of rant may get you what you want at the drive-through but not here....here it only makes people not listen to you or blow off what they did listen to.

Ok, I see I need to expand upon my first post because some of the **** here think that anything any game company puts out should be worthy of sexual favors. Let me say this:
You paid money for this game. It is buggy as hell. If you actually want me to list bugs wrong with it rather than "unspecified complaints" then you are an idiot. I didn't come here to make e-friends and move up the "ranks" so I can post in the other forums where people who take this game seriously do. I came here to **** a little because this game has great potential but the developers botched it by releasing it before it was done. I have no idea how any of these reviewers could recommend it so highly. There is a list a mile long in the "patch requests" section and this game has been out for what? a few weeks? I can't remember the last time I played a game with this many gameplay bugs.

And no, I'm not 16, but I am hung like a rodent and it causes me all sorts of emotional problems, and my computer doesn't crash playing the game. I've never crashed you idiots, it runs fine on my computer that "hasn't been updated in 5 years yet I've got a geforce 4 and an athlon 2500+ you ****" but if you don't understand what's wrong with the game then perhaps you don't know how to play it anyway. Let me list just a few things so people will stop with the random "mine doesn't crash" retardisms.

-Squalor is ****. It's really cool to have to slaughter half your population every time you get up over 25,000. Did any of the devs PLAY this game?!?
-AI pathing is ****. Try to have your guys run through a breach in the wall and it's a cluster as they get confused and/or pile on top of each other.
-Reinforcements is ****. No choice of command. Hell, not even a "smart" choice in command. Yeah, I really want to command the captain with 4 groups of horsemen while my Faction Leader heading 1,000+ men is controlled by AI that couldn't command a backwoods hillbilly militia (and I should know as I am one).
-Generals have a death wish. They run into battle first just because they're cavalry. Again, AI is half-retarded in this game (which out scores me by a quarter) and anyone playtesting it for more than a few days would have found this problem and corrected it.

The fact is, this game wasn't playtested thoroughly, it was rushed out the door and they shoveled this crap onto shelves expecting the masses to run out, buy it, and then spend hours online checking for fixes and patches. I'm sorry, but that's **** and I've never had problems with a game before to the point where I was like "Hey, this game is pretty cool, if only there weren't 30 crippling bugs wrong with it".

Anyone who disputes the fact that this game was rushed and not playtested thoroughly needs to have their **** examined, because you're probably sitting on your brain. And no, I don't care if I'm "going about my post the wrong way" because I'm drunk and I don't need to make friends here.

one the ai is alot better then in the pevious games were the computer would just walk tord you units with no startagy in this the ai on very hard atleat has a stragy.

two you play the army that was attacked or is attacking so if you dont want to play with forw horse men then dont atack or defend with them

three in this game the general attacks first becous ethis will give all of his units a humongus morall bust (this is game ai cant be perfiect, great ai under condicions though)if you dont like ai play multiplayer

four if population size unrestproblems play with large or huge armys and when a city gets unroudy becouse of population build a lot of solduirs and use them in a suicidle campane

five this game is so over du they have been working on it for ever i remember seeing prevuse when viking invastion came out

and what you think are bug are just problem in you playing or are just dislikes you have not actual bugs.

It's a bit buggy, so what? I have not noticed any serius bugs exept the crash to desktop bug when trying to play online but that was solved a few days after the game came out so that wasn't such a big pain. And they will make patches to fi the game, I can wait.

. Its a really great game and shouldn't be treated like trash just because it's abit bugged...

Actually Activision gave them an extra year to work on it. Sure, I'm really disapointed in the game as well - but at least give CA till they can release their patch they're making now - most other game I've played has so many patches out after a year and some people still complain about balance problems.

Look - your whole post was great - it reminded me of the first week after RTW was released - now we've seen it all and we and CA all know that the game has it's problems. You just wanted to rant? jsut wanted to tell us that the game wasn't what you wanted? I like the sound of "screaming for some kind of attention" in that phrase, sounds like the 16 year old you are .. not?

First off, squalour is not 'f'ed up' as you so ably put it. You have a big city, guess what? it starts to smell a bit. Deal with it. The fact that you choose to massacre your population every few years shows you haven't really thought the problem through, doesn't it? Never thought to queue up some peasants and send them somewhere else in your empire to settle? No, wait, squalour is f'ed up, so why bother trying to combat it when you can spit bile on an internet fansite forum.
