Thats the nature of northern europe, so you either learn to deal or fight in the deserts or Greece and asia minor.

I found using the zoom levels on the radar map helped, plus a lot of rapid "flying" up and down the line at low level to keep on top of things helped. ONce I decided it was a feature of North Europe and something to overcome rather than an annoying bug I coped better.

Others have posted tactical and strategic suggestions. Dogs work well in woods as they go from fight to fight.
