Default FX5600 and 'Mosaic' Graphics - to Apothacary Please

    Hi all,

This post is a reply to a thread in the Apothecary, but I just worked out why I can't reply there, so hopefully this can be moved across in due course

I, like others, have recently been having problems with 'mosaic' graphic corruption with RTW, and other games as well. As I understand it, this could be a specific problem with the FX5600 card, which I have.

My problems began when I upgraded my Nvidia drivers to the 61.77 version. After this I began to experience the mosaic effect. This was not limited to RTW, but I also experienced it with both Eve Online and Beyond Good and Evil. This would occur only when trying to render 3D graphics, flat stuff was fine. A reboot would remove the problem temporarily, but it would recur.

Since this was a systemwide problem, and I had just upgraded the drivers, I figured they were the culprit. I upgraded to the 66.81 drivers (which aren't 'properly' available yet, but can be downloaded from the Nvidia ftp site). These solved the mosaic problem, but unfortunately they also decide to reboot my PC when I try to enter the RTW campaign map (though not battlefield).

I have just gone back to the 53.03 drivers, which can be got from here, and these seem to be pretty stable.

Hopefully these will keep working and I won't need to go back to the 44.10 drivers I started with. Which would be annoying, to say the least.
