    Default Problem with Sieges

Alright, I noticed something the other day that really ticked me off.
I was sieging a Spanish city and the army decided to rally out. I first tried to take the city as I had a couple of Ballistas.
The battle was very close but I was able to take the middle. Now, the Spanish heavy cavs rushed my heavy cavs in the middle (these were the only units that hadn't routed or been killed off). So, I obviously charged them before they got to me. The INSTANT I got off the flag area in the middle, I lost the battle. I know I had the middle because my flag (I'm playing as Scipii) was flying and the countdown was occuring. Take into account that none of his armies were in that flag area either.
After that "loss", I loaded up the autosave to try again. I decided just to try it and let the Spanish come out to meet me (as they were rallying). Well, they wouldn't come, so I just let time run out. Since I was defending against their rally, I should have won the battle. But, no, I lost the battle and my army retreated back rather than holding the siege.
Has anyone else had similar problems?

yes, similar problems of armies being "repulsed" by enemy counter-attacks that..don't occur...hm, i suppose these and similar are just probles with the new system of game- defenders possibly need more "stability"? dunno. I do like those enemy counter attacks, especially when i have troops like elephants - makes for some great gate- and street fighting (though i dont reccomend scythe chariots...they've run amok literally as a battle has begun..gah, and as for running you general through a gate you've forgotten still has enemies armed with boiling oil in...
