I hate to be a noob, but are there any good 3d modeling programs available for free? I have never done modeling etc but I would love to be able to create my own mod. If only I had photoshop I'd already be editing the textures...

Milkshape and Gmax are the only "free" 3d modeling programs i'm aware of. However, you will need 3d studio max to import and export the .CAS files, and 3ds Max is about $3000 "legaly". Of course there are always ways around that...if you get my meaning.

Wings3D and Blender are also free programs. The latter is actually developed by a community after the source code "ransomed". It's an admirable effort and if given enough time, the program might get among the 1000$ programs.
