Question one little question about loyalty

Yes, I've just wanted to ask if a location of the governors affect the loyalty of his governed province? (e.g. if he's far from it) Should I keep the governors in their provinces? Is it wise to change governors often? Thanks for the advice. Victory or death! Charge!

Well, that day had to come... I knew it would not last forever.

Congratulation Grand Duke for breaking the record for the longest name.

No. Proximity to a gov's province doesn't influence loyalty directly. If a gov isn't the top on a stack though, I do not believe he gets his V&Vs, which could influence loyalty.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about that. I'm currently playing as the Byz and for a long time I've had most of my governors stashed in the Citadel in Constantinople, for safe keeping. Retrained with silver armour for good measure but they're unlikely to see combat anyway. They seem to be acquiring the appropriate Builder, Steward type V&V's even though they're not located in their respective provinces.

Equally, I've had a few develop bad V&V's but again without having visited the place. I swear one developed 'Smuggler' within just a couple of years of being awarded his title. No idea what brought that on. It has a hefty agricultural and trade income hit (-20% Ag, -30% Trade) and I was lucky this province was landlocked, tradewise (Edessa/Armenia?, Silk Spices and Gems). He was just one move away from joining the rest of them in Constantinople before he got fired. Replacing an acumen-7 smuggler with an acumen-5 replacement did actually improve income, that's how serious it was.

Having them all located in one place makes it easier to keep track of them, monitor their acumen rating and V&V's regularly and not worry about them getting inveigled in any combat.

Interesting what you say about 'head of stack' though. I'm convinced I've seen some generals acquire 'builder' etc from hanging around in a province for years where that sort of activity is going on but not actually having a governorship, nor having been relieved of a title earlier in the game.

The head of stack is getting all the V&V even if he isn't the one actually getting them. I've got several kings with two Builder lines for example, one for the governor line and one for the king line. Thus preventing the others from gaining those V&V. I think the stack leader is the only one to get random V&V too, but I havn't looked into that so much.
Wich province thier in doesn't matter though.

And your governors will spam those income reducing V&V after you reached a certain size.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Two Builder lines? Sounds like a program glitch to me.

You can't issue the King or the Princes with a governorship, for starters.

I have so far assumed that the King gets builder/steward on account of activity across the kingdom as a whole and the individual governors should get the corresponding V&V at the same time, provided that building/crop improvements are occuring.

In my case, the King (Byz Emperor to be precise) generally hangs out in Constantinople, instead of up at the frontline and there has been constant building activity there throughout the game. The official Gov of Const'ple is in a separate stack, within the Citadel. It could be that the king, as 'head of stack', outside of the castle, is picking up V&Vs in addition to those gained by the local governor.

The difference is that, with 'Steward' on the faction leader, the parchment note says that Agricultural output is boosted by 10% (or 20%) in all provinces. This is a real earner when you've done a lot of land improvements but I guess I'll have to watch it when the next heir takes over and he has yet to acquire that virtue - instant productivity drop! Eventually, I'll reach a stage where there are no more provinces left to improve.
