    Default Evil Genius

Has anyone else played this yet? It's been taking up alot of my time lately, such a great game.

It's kinda like Dungeon keeper, but I kinda like it more than Dungeon Keeper. It's alot less linear, there is ALOT more of all the good stuff that DK had (such as traps) and everything is more varied and interesting. And the goofy 60s spy theme is fun too.

since it has no multiplayer i have zero interest in it

IMO the only point of RTS games is a good multiplayer portion

But its not technically an RTS.....

I think discounting a game because of no multiplayer function is a bit daft myself when there allready plenty of decent multiplayer games out there.
Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our homes and live in them for a fortnight every year. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English — and that's who you are playing this afternoon Phil Bennett's pre 1977 Rugby match speech

Seeing as i dont have broadband it doesn't matter to my now if it has multiplayer. Evil Genius sounds fun and i'll prob buy it as soon as i can afford it and have completed a lot of games that i've still got to complete (its getting quite a big list now)

Most of the reviews are favorable but from what I have read Evil Genius suffers from some of the same faults as the disastrous game 'Republic' (another game from Dennis Hassabis' crew). Evil Genius forces you to do alot of micromanaging, much moreso than the Dungeon Keeper games which Hassabis helped to create. The game's user interface is also somewhat counter-intuitive and lacks polish. For example, what appears to be a fairly simply task in EG can take an unusual number of mouseclicks to perform.

The good news is the trap system in EG is supposed to be a real hoot. You can make some really twisted mouse traps for invading agents. The little things like funny animations and whatnot are also top notch, apparently the game is chock full of little details.

Anyway, I recommend waiting to see what the patch fixes before picking it up.
