    Default Strat Map Movement Question/Prob

Is there a way to move armies on the map without the mouse? I ask because the current view system will not allow me to move in reinforcements from the North adjacent to a besieged settlement. I can do it from the East, West, and South, but the tile(s) to the North are non-selectable. So what happens is I move as close as I can, but when I sally, the army is out of range--ARRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!

Alternately, is there a way to rotate the view on the strategy map? Zoomed is not zoomed enough for some movement (like the above.)

God, reinforcements SUCK in RTW. I really like (?!?) it when you bring a small captain led army alongside your besieged city and the AI turns to attack *the reinforcements.* You have both your city garrison, and the reinforcement army (with faction leader in my case) on the field, but you get control of the reinforcements There is so much joy in watching helplessly as the AI charges individual units into the enemy formation. First it sends the defenseless screaming women (wouldn't want them standing behind the lines doing their job.) Then it sends the faction leader and light cav into the main line frontally. It follows up with the phalanx units of course...who the AI then withdraws quickly because of all the disruption in front and routing friends. Of course, the AI leaves them in phalanx, so none of them can actually escape, they are all cut down without killing a soul.

The "friendly" AI control is by far the worst tactical AI of the entire TW series. Actually, it might be the worst example of tactical AI I have ever seen. (Remember, I'm talking about friendly AI control--not normal enemy AI control.)

After all the horror stories about kamikaze family members, I just autoresolve unless I control the right army.

You know, I don't think the ally AI is any worse than the enemy AI...

Yes the initial enemy units will be formed up and manoveur against you... But I have seen enemy AI reinforcements act just as badly as friendly reinforcements...

In a battle against the Greeks I had a full stack army facing a 4 unit stack and a full stack with a general.. I am attacked by the small stack of all things, so I setup defensively and await on the on rush of massed phalanxs...

The 4 unit army in in the middle of the field and Greek reinforcements are just arriving on the map..

The initial troops form up for a (doomed) attack and are easily driven off....

The reinforcements don't bother to build any type of formation but seems to move units forward to attack as soon as they appear on the field...

So instead of facing a second, larger army I face a stream of enemy units with the cavalry rushing ahead of the others...

You know when you get reinforcements that are added to your army, you can only command them when they are moved onto the field and this can mean it takes a while to get command of all the units especially if they are coming on from a cormer of the field... I think the AI is unware of reinforcements until they appear and then sent them immediately to attack... Now in the reinforcements the General (or captain) is normally the first unit on the field so off he rushes to his death...

Personally I think there is no difference between the ally AI and the enemy AI...

Reinforcement AI is screwed up in general, but I've seen the enemy AI reinforcements go charging up to take a place in line many times...rather than everyone attacking. It seems to do this on defense a lot. I've not seen the "friendly" AI do this. Also, I've not seen the friendly AI form up its lines and attack normally, something the enemy AI actually does. Of course, I give the friendly AI few chances to actually take the field...
