    Default God I miss MTW

    RTW makes me miss MTW.

I liked how I could grant governorship of a province to any unit I choose, and that that governor would add his bonuses to the province no matter where he was on the map.

I liked how 1 army, inside the fort or not, could simultaneously guard every mile of border AND keep down unrest.

I liked how you either controled a sea zone or didn't.

I liked how, so long as you had an uninterupted sea chain, you could ship an army all the way across Europe in one year.

I liked how easily moddable nearly all the unit stats were (especially movement speed!).

I liked how teching up and increasing the size of your city was only a good thing.

I liked how orderly the units moved in the battle screen, and how disorderly cavalry moved when they broke formation to pursue individual men within a target nme unit (as opposed to this fish schooling BS where RTW cav run around nme units rather than engaging them 1v1).

Lastly, I liked how your family members were bred for governing AND war, and were not tethered to Town Hall.

I disagree, RTW Single player strategic map is far better in every area than MTW, the battles at them moment i prefer MTW but that is only because i know all the controls and its just a matter of time and practicde untill i crack the RTW controls, But MP well havent tried that yet because of all the bad reviews and the fact that you need broadband and i dont have broadband yet!

All in all i cant wait to get home from work and continue the slaughter of the Gauls!! Julii Victor!!!

I miss only the effectiviness of spearman and i would buy a MTW 2 based on the Rome Engine, featuring the better strategic map and siege features.

Medieval was a much better game, the battles were smoother, easier to control, and much more satisfying. You weren't constantly fighting against the horrible unresponsiveness of your units. And by that I don't mean the delay, I mean the fact that they often flat out refuse to do anything.

I'll eventually go back and start playing it again, Rome is fun and all, but Medieval is the best strategy game I have played since civilization 2 was new.

But then the Rome camera angles were created to make you have a better feel of what war was like (right in there :P) But for the moment i personally am sticking in VI till CA do something about them problems and bugs. Cant even host tournaments there cause no logfiels and changing scripted replays >.

I miss it too, but I've played it so much it's a little too limiting. I just wish they'd roll a bunch more expansion packs out....or maybe a new version of the whole game. I dunno, keep upgrading MTW getting the glitches out etc....that would make me happier.

i think a new MTW with some new units and some of the RTW features and the RTW graphics, with the RTW map style. but with the simplicity of combat of MTW.
    thanks,

There are some great Mods for Mtw guys if you dont have them they add life to the game.

Personally apart from the graphics and the campaign map I think Rome is a bag of w**k I traded my copy in and as the MP side I think a ZX81 programmer was employed to create it.
