Default A very sad farewell !!

    Hi everyone

It is with heavy heart that I speak to you all today. I have taken the painful step of trading all my PC games in at my local computer shop. The only one I have played in living memory is RTW. I love this game with all its faults and cannot justify spending the time playing it any longer. I have a habit of playing it too much when I have a lot of work on as well as cyber-slacking on the forums whilst at work. I had taken the step of locking the game away at work but only managed to leave it there for 2 weeks. I have even turned down nights out when I have been particularly enjoying a campaign !!

The good news is I have received a credit for the traded games and will spend it on my son in November for his 7th birthday .

May I thank you all for your help and time over the last few years. I have enjoyed reading all the strategy threads and participating in PBEM's.

May I also personally thank Tricky Lady as we were regular MP players together and I hope someone will come along in my place.

All the best my friends .

    Rob

Very brave of you, Rob. I had to do that myself a few years back while starting grad school with three kids & a new job, etc. A painful choice but I can say from experience it will make your life so much easier and richer.

Best of luck to you, and congrats to your son

Farewell, YAKOBU! It is sad to see a PBM veteran leave, but I understand your situation. All the best.

Sorry to see that mate. As for "cyber-slacking"...... *coughs nervously*

Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. So you did it? I must say I regret your choice but at the same time I admire what you did. I too locked RTW away for a couple of months, also because I was moving & selling my apartment, but I was weak and look at me playing RTW again.

I'm sad that you had to take such a drastic step. Hope we'll stay in touch though!

    Hi everyone (characteristic smiley !!)

Thank you for all your kind words. I must say that even though I don't have the game any longer I am still lurking around the forum occasionally. I have just spent 2 nights in Rhyl (English coastal town) with my son. I took along a little reading and have just started Emperor, The Gates Of Rome by Conn Iggulden. It is a story about Julius Caesar that covers 4 books and so far I am 245 pages in and he is only in his early teens. It is quite easy reading and I am finding it quite enjoyable.

    A few personal comments:

Tamur: Do you have the game again? If Yes I hope not at the cost of your job, wife and kids!!
econ21: I have seen the new threads for a potential Julii PBEM and I am itching to play. The Julii were my most played faction.
Braden: I visit the Blockbuster in Hunslet most weekends. Maybe we could meet and have a coffee at Morrisons?
Tricky Lady: Will still catch you on Msn. If it wasn't for you I would still be a MP virgin .
    Nelson: Thanks mate.
edyzmedieval: Thanks for the confidence, will try and prove you wrong !
    Ludens: Thanks mate.
Dutch_guy: I will try and add to the threads here and there with my characteristic smilies .
The Spartan: I cannot justify the cost of upgrading my PC for MTW2. Maybe one day if there is a RTW2

Well must be going. Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday everyone
