    Default Faction Heirs Question (RTW)

    Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked already but I couldnt find it?

Remember on MTW you could press .unfreeze. and get a baby born?

Does anyone know how to do it on RTW? It would be a shame to lose the campaign because you have no heirs.

    Thanks in advance

If there's a force-baby cheat, I haven't seen it discussed anywhere. You have another option, however.

Send a leaderless stack out into battles. Win those battles, preferably at huge odds. With any luck at all, you will get an offer to adopt the heroic Captain who killed all them folks for you.

    Presto! New heir.

    Thanks Ill try that!

Do you know if it has to be a heroic victory to be able to adopt? I've had a few clear victories with captains and nothing happens

    Thanks again

The process seems to be cumulative -- either a series of wins, or one whoppin' big one. If you just keep flinging Captains into battle, you will get an heir.

I just remembered, there's an even easier way to get heirs. Buy them. Just sic your diplomat on an enemy, ally or rebel, and buy an heir. Preferably a young one.

Note that you can't buy faction leaders (unlike real life) and I don't think you can buy the direct heir. But everybody else is up for grabs. This is probably the fastest way to repopulate your stable.

One of my greatest generals (just died of old age, sigh) was a bought off Germanic family member. I never did trust him enough to put him in the heir category, but he had 9 stars, about 6 influence and a smattering of management. If he had ever changed from 'seems loyal' I would have rushed him home to become the heir.

Here's a thread about Captains becoming Generals, with very-impressive CA reponses. Should answer all questions.

    Thanks Lemur

Will have to do something drastic when I go back to my Rome Campaign, only got one old barbarian joker left as a heir. The Gauls bribed my other General who had four little kiddies and they all disappeared. I bribed a Gaul General called Belenus who is now the heir. Also got a spinster daughter whos 22. No marriage proposals yet. Havent managed to get a captain promoted yet

another advantage to bribing enemy generals, I would think, is the followers they have can be faction specific. I wonder if you could stack several priests from different pantheons onto one general this way to double up on similar effects?

Yeah buy them into your family. Rebel generals are fairly cheap and other faction's generals are affordable. Patch will probably change that.

Adopting captains seems pretty random, don't count on that to keep your family growing.

    Hi

My campaign has become rather strange. I bought a few generals, but Havent had any babies born or captains promoted. My last person with the surname Julius has died. I now have 3 Gauls (Belenus is the faction leader with Rianorix of tolosa as heir), 2 hispanics, one scipius, a skinny felow I picked up from the senate and an oddball with red hair who was leading a rebel army. My newest general is a numidian. Does that mean Julius Ceaser will not be born? Unless his ancestor is a hairy Gaul or a black african.
