Thread: Ridiculous elephants

    Default Ridiculous elephants

I know Hannibal won a lot of battles with Elephants, but I managed to get some mercenary War Elephants and they caused ultimate havoc on an army. I entered Libya with my mercenary army to take out the Scipii with the Julii. I had just acquired 3 elephants but was outnumbered 2:1, my Onagers disrupted the charging armies and my elephants trampled them, I killed 345 of them (2 managed to escape my cavalry charge) and they killed none of mine. My conclusion: elephants are far too much superior to be realistic. If I stab a big old spear in an Elephant the sucker goes down, not in R:TW tho!

Not to mention that skirmisher units armed with javelins throw their javelins like 10m BEHIND the elephants which makes them completely useless against them, and arrows which should at least be able to hurt the riders are completely useless.

Spears vs. elephants (I lost 200+ armoured hoplites to one unit of elephants yesterday) should equal dead elephants.

Pharoahs Bowmen are VERY effective against Elephants.Onlt problem is you will lose a few men keeping the long snouted ones occuppied long enough to cause them to run amok.
