How does that work? If my princes/king marry a princess how do I get her daddy's lands? It never happened to me. Is it that all or some of the provinces turn to your allegiance if there is no heir? Or how does it work?

I've never seen it happen. Has anyone?
It only happens once in a blue moon (english phrase meaning almost never :-) ) I think the faction has to die out, and even then its only a small chance, and you might as well just bribe all the rebels anyway.

It happens when you marry a princess and then kill of her brothers and uncles. When the king dies you get their lands (provided no one else married a princess). I think going to war with them will invalidate your claim.
It happens very rarely, but if you have good assassins or inquisitors you might give it a try.

The marriage matters for several generations but is like English assasin said, it's very rare. Seen it atleast three times though.
And if the faction dying out goes into a civil war, then you'll see very buggy things happen. You'll get all the land, but the other faction don't die out for starters, then it gets wierder.![]()
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

They now have a surname on them, like 'Richard Plantagenet', or whatever is appropriate to that faction but they will retain the crown symbol to show Royal Blood.
The problem with this is that generals don't die off from old age or illness and, with the Civil War situation, there could be generations of them floating around, possibly as one-man RK units. You are merely their in-laws so royal-blood generals on one or other of the sides in the Civil War will have a stronger claim on the lands. One side is initially marked up as 'rebels' but if they eventually win, over the former loyalists, the original faction is wiped out but the rebels now become that faction, so it's instantly restored - or at least it appears to be.
As was commented previously, if all the royal-blood generals and princesses have been killed in battles, or assassinated, then your claim stands a chance. Of course, once a royal-blood general is nested within a stack looked after by a high-starred general, more stars than them, you can't single them out for assassin attack. That's one game feature I'd like to see changed.

I believe that those "royal blood" generals (uncles) only stay around for one generation. After the current king dies, they revert to typical royal knight units. That way they don't keep accumulating the whole game.
