    Default Faction Help.

I am looking for a very good Faction to play. I have the all faction MOD. I need a faction that has a good economie, a good income too. Also, a faction with archers and cavarly and a good infantry. I also want just an overall good army faction with a good economy. Does anyone know of one?

Egypt has a pretty booming econonomy, even though the cities get a little large, their armies are also archer oriented with bowmen and Pharaohs bowmen (imo the best archers in the game). They dont really have much cavalry but have chariots and basic cavalry. They have some pretty good spear units and desert axemen.
My favorite faction is the britons, but "barbarians" dont get great economies, Parthia is great too but doesn't have much infantry and a tough economy.

    Hope this helps

Why look any further than Romans?

I highly recommend the Brutii; I'm currently playing all three Roman campaigns, and I've found the Brutii the most challenging, most rewarding and above all most fun. Read the Brutii guide in the guides section, it's good stuff!

Essentially you'll want to conquer Greece ASAP and reap the rewards.

Mate sorry to break it to ya but the gauls have a terrible starting postition. Ok, sometimes the AI acts like a 2 year old (and trust me I know how one acts) but your units aren't really a match for the pre marian units let alone the post marian units. I've been able to beat my brother's gallic army with half the denarii of men.
Id you don't mind crazy historical inaccuracy and some downright lunacy, you should pick the eggy's they've got the best units pound for pound so to speak as well as booming cities, and their main rivals, the selucids, as played by the AI are ludicrously weak. This givess you control over the silk road and will make you richer than your wildest dreams...

if you dont wanna play as romans...

    id suggest the selucids
i personally havent played w/them on the SP yet but

from Custom battle it seems the selucids have the Best Unit line up from what i can tell

you get those cool looking bladed 'scythed' chariots
*they arent so great without support -probably best as flank unit

you get Elephants an those armoured elephants are just amazing

you get great infantry *greek decendants

you get the unbelievably awesome cataphracts
those guys in custom battle seem near unstoppable

who needs 2 flank when u can just mow down just about anything with ease?

how can u beat a calvery like that? chariots elephants cataphracts?
phalanxs' too and the archers arent bad

unit-wise....the selucids have the most wide ranging selection of different types of units
    *aside of romans

    wanna have some fun?
put 20 units of peasents vs ONE unit of cataphracts(3gold chev+full upgrades)

LOL i killed around 1500+ peasents and lost 1 horse
hmmm maybe i lost 2 horses

    anyhow
those selucid cataphracts are uber units
    and i LOVE them!!!

zoom in on them too they look mean
my gf said "wow those guys look badass"

and then she saw me use them to slice those thousandfive hundred peasents into pieces with ease

and i turn to look at her and said "it seems they are even badder than they look"

    Throw my 2 cents in

Seleucids gets LOTS of cash. Just build mines and traders and roads in the first turn, and you're set.

They got Elephants which are good to create gaps in battle lines. And Armoured Elephants later. Cathapracts are awesome. Scythed Chariots are available early if u upgrade stables in Antioch. Just beware...they can run amok faster than Elephants.

Seleucids also got access to phalanx-units and the Silver Shield Pikemen are absolutely awesome if used properly. The Silver Shield Legionaries are almost as good as Legionary Cohorts, AND can form the tetsudo formation. The Legionary Cohort as 4 in Charge Bonus, while the Silver Shield has 3. And Silver Shields require 50 denarii more in upkeep and the final tech barracks. But with the economy of the Seleucids that wont be a problem.

The Seleucids have probably the most interesting unit roster in the game.

Seems like a good thread for throwing in my first post.

I've only played campaign mode as the Roman factions as of now, so these recommendations will be a little combat-oriented, but it's battle this game is mainly about anyway.

The Gauls as mentioned start out with large tracks of land, which is good. However, can you hold on to it? Personally I rejoice each time I'm fighting a Gaul army, because I'm quite sure I can slaughter their armies even if they are 2-3 times the size of my forces. Quite often I have seen their units routing before they even got close to mine, a few burning arrows and those bare chested men get all the less macho.

If you have to play barbarian, go for Germania. Nice cavalry, good archers, solid spearwalls (not as solid as that of some other factions, but these are all down south), and infantry units like night warriors and berserkers are both strong and capable of scaring units to a rout. I've played a lot of battles as the Romans against Germania, and the other way around. I've never lost as Germania. Yet as the Romans, I have been beaten a couple of times. Their armour is not much, though, avoid showers of arrows when possible. Same problem with the Gauls, only they don't have phalanxes or berserkers either.

As of the more civilized factions, there's no army that can stand up to the Romans if used correctly. Guess that goes for most armies, though...:P
