    Default john peel RIP

the legendary DJ john peel died late last night in peru of a heart attack aged 65.he was with out doubt the greatest dj in the UK and also one of the most modest men you could ever meet. a legend in is own lifetime with is peel sessions alone the number of groups who appeared on the sessions and who who him a debt of grattitude is unknown. without john peel music like punk/ska hip hop and countless others wouldnt have got the air play and neithier would have the groups who made it big.

RIPjohn peel you were the greatest.

Yes, very sad. I remember first listening to Peelie's late night slot 26 years ago as a kid with a tinny radio under the bedcovers. All those bands like Joy Division, The Fall, The Wedding Present and countless others far more obscure I still love today. Will be missed... :(

Probably the most recognisable DJ on radio. He will certainly be missed.

especially in regards to the fall who were his fav band and did a special gig for his 50 birthday. and he always played the records without interuptions so you could tape them. i went watching pitchshifter a few weeks ago another band thaty had plenty air play and a few sessions on john peels show the number of bands is uncountable.

Yeah, even though I didn't like most of the music he propagated or introduced, I'll miss his cool voice and off the cuff style on the BBC World Service. So soon after Alistair Cook, another distinguished British voice gone...

JP was the ONLY dj who played punk/new wave in the mid 70s ....like some of the posters, I too listened to him in bed at night.......in fact it was thru him that I became in lust with Gaye Advert, bassist with the Adverts....

Ahhh halcyon days indeed...he will be missed
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.
