Red face never do this at sea

i sent 3 family members along with my best army to attack Taraconenis.
half way there the spanish navy attacked me. they seemed vulnerable, with a weak army, but man did they have a strong navy, they followed me & sunk my small fleet.
the moral of the story is, when attacking spain, march over land dont use the sea. it took me 16 years to muster another attack.

Wish I had read this earlier. Lost an invading armada to mere spanish boats. Guess they invented the submarine way before they claim they had.

All AI factions build boats like nobody's business. Numidia has a great navy All army naval invasions should be planned as single turn hops.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

I've had entire fleets reduced to handfuls by the sheer amount of Iberian boats. But those who survived became strong. Very strong.

The Greeks have destroyed many of my navy, so take them on land.

You could land a single unit and blockade the port by land ...

An extreme tactic for end game only: Buy the city of the Greeks.

I had only recently finished a war with Eygpt which saw them go from a mighty empire to a few desert provences. I was preparing for my march on Rome when I got the blockade Bastra mission. Not wanting to reignite an old war. I decided to offer to buy Bastra from them. Not thinking I had a hope in hell I offered them 100,000d [I'd owned Greece for 80 odd years by then so had 700,000d in the bank] To my surprise they took me up on my offer. So I avoided starting the war, but unfortunately shafted my allies whom I'd been financially surporting in their wars against Eygpt

The revitalised Eygptians went on the offensive. A few years later I slaughtered the population of Rome to demonstrate how annoyed I was with them

Nice, I'll be using that in the game.

Here's another thing to never do at sea. Piss off of the back of a sailboat
