    Default Registration/Membership Problem? Post Here.

We have changed forum software, had a large influx of new members, and modified the membership structure - all very recently.

If any of this has resulted in your old account being no longer active, please post here. Help may be available.

Also feel free to post any other general membership questions or problems you may have.

Nice to see some changes here

Now to the point: I was a member in the old forums, I'm a junior member now!

    I miss editing my posts!!!

My previous name was just "Nestor", the email is the same for both accounts.
    What can I do?

Hmmm... what do I need to do to get a member status? Hint: look at my posts number...It's annoying, seeing people with 20 or so posts being members, and not me... It's just that all my posting is restricted to one modding forum, so I'm not very active in the Colosseum, but is that reason enough to discriminate?
    I'm still not here

    Hello eadingas,

It's not discriminating, not in the sense that we say you're not worthy.

In the previous system, all new members passed the Entrance Hall. This had disadvantages but also pros. Most important pro was that it was easy to spot new members and promote them. New members diffuse over the whole board now, so it's more likely someone slips.

Unlike other boards, ours doesn't promote based on postcount.

Thanks for dropping a note here, so that we get a chance to look at it.

Just too add my voice to eadingas', it took a whole month, and 40+ posts for me to be promoted, which I'm grateful for by the way. But I've seen some members with similar post count and joining date who are still Juniors. I know I was getting a little frustrated at the wait to be able to participate here more fully, and I can only imagine how those others who weren't promoted feel.

It wouldn't be so bad if only the New? ReadMe First post was a tad more informative about the new forum organisation. When I joined, it seemed to be the practice to promote every week on the basis of stringing a few posts together. I, and many others, seem to have been caught in the transition.

On the dispersion of new members, aren't the various moderators of the forums pooling their information? It would seem not, or eadingas would have been promoted. 300 posts and still a Junior!

    Hello Morat,

The other moderators do pool information.

In the old situation new members were restrited to the Entrance Hall only and its moderators had a fullday job in spotting and talking to everyone (there were/are also members participating in the introduction, thanks). We felt it important to get new members up and running as quick as possible, it was 'easy' to do as new active members were easy to spot in one place.

Now new members can post in almost any forum, that makes it harder to include them into the 'vetting' program (diffused, longer communication lines, mods not having time to report). The Entrance Hall is still the welcoming place and it helps if you post here, just so that the people directly responsible for the promoting get a reminder.

I for one find the whole process undemocratic and silly. I had BI full 5 days before everyone else but couldn't share anything with anybody here here because the of the posting restrictions, can't even vote in polls, it's like I am 5 again (and that was 35 years ago). I wish to be removed from members list. thank you

So what if a system is undemocratic?

The best systems are the ones that are accountable, which tends to be those that are democratic. A stellar example of not being democratic but highly accountable is science which is peer reviewed.

Once you get past the anti-troll speed bumps this place is the place to get information with minimal spam unless you hit the tavern. It is a fun and polite site and that is the way we like to keep it. Sure the entry fee is steep but the wait is worth it.

Our genes maybe in the basement but it does not stop us chosing our point of view from the top.

I think this is as good a place as any to point out that all Members can post about any Total War game, or indeed Total Warrior, in the Entrance Hall (that's what it's here for), and that any Member can post and vote in polls in this forum. The full permissons for Junior Members can be found in another sticky thread, the Guild FAQ.

Yes mate. After a few decent posts you will be promoted to a fully fledged member thus allowing you to post anywhere you like.

Promotion is not based on postcount. You have to post a couple of times so the moderators can see how you interact with other patrons, but promotion mainly depends on posting in a friendly and helpful manner. If anything, lots of posts will delay promotion. Moderators don't like spammers.

Hi, why I can't post in the Alchemist lab?

My question was: I managed to extract the pack in Rome to get the images of units and buidlings. But I have no idea where I can find the pictures in Medieval and Shogun and the discription texts of units and buildings. Is there an other tool needed? Which one and how to use it? I have only a Shogun alpha trial version are there all images inside? Cause MI can anyone send me the images of the new units?
    thx.

Sowilo: us junior members have to follow the rules, post actively, helpfully and in a friendly manner in order to be promoted. Before you are a full member, you can only post in the guides sections, the mod sections and the entrance hall.

and sorry, but I don't have an answer to your question.

Question Re: Registration/Membership Problem? Post Here.

    Bon Jour Mon Ami,

I am wondering who, or whom, must I patronize in order to be able to send images with my posts? Is this priviledge only for senior Org members? I don't mind having to pay my dues, but is there some crystal ball that must be consulted or something before being allowed to send attachments. I assure you that I am not a terrorist, political activist, religous fanatic, or a lunatic. I really don't have a mean bone in me...er, except when fighting the Egyptians in RTW (no offense to my Islamic brothers from tyhe land of the Nile).

I would appreciate any comments regarding this delicate matter. I am just a bit envious of all these great posts with graphics added. It sure can save a thousand words.

If the image you want to display sits on your own hard-drive...

when you post, before you click "submit", scroll down a bit further on that page & find the ImageShack block. Click "browse", find and select your image, click "Host it!", copy the "thumbnail for forums" text, paste that text into your post.

Click "Preview Post" to make sure it looks like you intended. Click "Submit Reply".

Option #2: if the image is link-able (not all are), use the forum image tags, thus:

[img] url of the image goes here [/img]

    Greetings KukriKhan, and everyone else...

I have been out of the scene for quite some time, but I used to be a fairly active part of the Shogun forums/community. Sadly, life kind of got in the way! Back then I was known as "Mori Zennousha", and I had full member status, contributed to map-packs, tourneys, etc. There may actually be a few folks around who would remember me... What I would like to know is this: can I re-activate that old account? I sent an email message to that extent last week, but I have not yet heard back. I tried re-registering under that name, but it appears to still be "in the system" and I have no clue what my old password was (well I kind of have a clue, but obviously not quite close enough!) Further complicating things, I have a different email address now; the old account was closed long ago. Therefore attempts to email my password there will fail.

I'm open to suggestions here. It would be great to get my old status back, but frankly I'm not so concerned about that. I'd really just like to get me old name back.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
    Z

Yet when I click on Private Message link and arrived to that page, it shows me that I do have 1 message (1/10th of the bar is orange). Yet, can't see any message at all. The "inbox" shows 0 unread message.

logout and log back in again, thinking it would clear up just in case it was an old message. But no, still has 1 unread message.

What gives? I am trying to send message to myself to see.
