Welcome to the History & Cinema forum, darklulu.

Finding Kurosawa films can fall anywhere from easy to difficult, depending on which films you want, where you live, and what options are open to you.

The simplest method, and the one most likely to get you the more obscure titles, is through online purchasings. Places like Amazon.com carry quite a number of Kurosawa films on both VHS and DVD. A little more Web research may even yield better prices. Some places, like Japan Video & Media have some very rare videos, although you'll pay for their hard-to-find nature.

If online purchasing is unavailable to you, a good likely resource is a large video chain, like a Suncoast. They often carry Kurosawa films in stock (usually under 'foreign') and if they don't have something you want in the store, most stores like Suncoast allow you to order them. Some of the big electronic chains, like Best Buys, will have popular and recent Kurosawa films in stock as well. For rentals, you'd be surprised by some video stores' selections, both large chains and independent stores. There was a local video store where I live (that unfortunately recently burned down) that had nearly every Kurosawa film dubbed and committed to VHS.

Finally, a good source of rare movies would be local Asian video stores, if you have any nearby. There are some problems with this option. The first is that it'll be hit and miss and you often won't find Japanese films at Mong video stores, for example. The second problem is that you'll often come across videos that aren't dubbed or subtitled(which will be a problem for non-native language speakers).

Hope this helps on your quest. Whatever method you use, it'll be well worth it.
