    in real:
Although the battle of Tannenberg was lost, and the Order-STATE crumbled in the following. the Teutonic Knights did not.

There was even a unit in WW2 carrying the name, and bearing quite a number of this order.

today it`s a "charity"- order (ambulances-aid) like most order of that time, and initially intended.
secondly there is are quite a number of "non-official" brotherhoods who really have nothing to do with *help*... [and you don`t have to be noble anymore, rich is fine, too, today.]
(where i think *suckers* is the wrong describtion )

    in game:
HRE- crusades bear them, along with ordinary order-footed, fanatics and mounted *Order- Sgts." (useful vs. cav.)

only by moving a crusade into a *high-zeal* province with another chapter-house i saw a teutonic-knights unit increasing it`s numbers again.

don`t try to use a polish retainer against one of them..don`t!

i'm guessing the holy romans can build these chapter houses? I guess ill have to play as the holy romans after the poles destroy the muslims. (catholics destroyed each other :D)

i thought i had some polish retainers earlier in the game, but i don't see to have them anymore, is there a text file of sorts that says when different units can be built?

Yes, it is 'crusaders_unit_prod11.txt'. However, it rather a mess of numbers and text, so it is useful to download an editor to view the text properly, like the Gnome editor. You can find it here: 3D downloads.
