    Default SATIIs today

In about two hours I should be Starting my second, and final, round of SAT II testing. I will be taking the SAT II Writing, Math IIc, and Physics exams. I am hoping that optics is not covered by that last one. Oh well.. But on a more upbeat note, I received my first acceptance letter yesterday. Huzzah. It was from Purdue.

Acceptance letters already, from Purdue? I wouldn't worry to much. Then again, I'm not taking the SAT this fall because I think I did good enough last spring.

Thanks for the well wishes. I think that I did rather well. Better than the last time I took SAT IIs, at least for the writing test.

Yeah, Purdue has some unoffical early action thing. If you get your app in by mid november, then they get back to you faster.

Could someone explain how the SATII system works? What sort of results do you get out of it? Do you think it is represntive of ability and a fair test(s)??

I ask because here in the UK there is some consideration moving our higher eduction (Pre-University) in that direction...

    P.S. Good luck to all....

SatII's are very similar to the SAT, just in different subjects. I took Chemistry, writing, and MatIIc for example. Scored out of 800. The don't really test intelligance, just how much you know and how good you are at taking tests.

Hmm, Sasaki - I'm planning on taking those subjects in December... what sort of level of knowledge do I need? I'm coming from having had A-levels in chemistry and maths (too much maths...)

What level math? (for Math IIc I would recommend at least precalc level) Also, was it chemistry Honors or non-honors? Wait, are you from europe? YOu might just want to check out your local Library. For the approprate prep books.

Well the math was really easy. No calculus.

The chemistry was rediculously easy...but then I'd had 2 years of chemistry and a very good teacher. I'm not sure, but I think I could have taken it and gotten the same after the first year.

If A-levels are like the AP tests, the SATII was much easier, though the AP wasn't hard either.

    Thumbs up Re: SATIIs today

I think that's the defining statement about the SAT, cheers.

Well - I don't forsee any problems with the maths - three A-levels in the subject should be enough for any man. Chemistry, well - I did have a year of it at university (before I dropped out) so unless it's harder than degree level, it should be fine (just worried that I'll be a little hazy - oh and there's also the way that as I was progressing through school, at every major transition - GCSE to A-level, A-level to degree - I was told that everything I'd learned was, if not quite wrong, an over-simplification - am I going to have to reverse knowledge for this?)

I don't have any idea as to what to expect in the writing - I'm assuming I'll need to write some stuff though.

It was something like 60% multiple choice about writing skills, and 40% an essay.
