    Default So many questions....

Well actually not so many, but still a couple of them.

First, is there anywhere a table with all unit statistics? Like, where you can compare Hastati with chosen swordsmen and silver shields and numidian spearman and so on?

Infantery and cavallery are distiguished in "light" and "heavy". Is there any difference besides their statistics? For example, Hastati are light, princeps are heavy. Princeps have +1 attack and +1 defence if my memory serves me right. Is that all about it?

Spears. Spears are supposed to give you bonus vs cav. Is that really true for all spears? I am refering to those people that carry sticks rather than spears such as townwatch, lybian Spearmen, auxiliary infantery and the likes.

There is not a table unfortunately. You can look at unit statistics in the export_descr_unit.txt file. Too bad that CA doesn't attach a simple unit/building/mounts/projectiles viewer as part of the game.

Not a lot of difference between Hastati and Principes. Mainly Principes get extra armour and higher training/discipline stats.

Town militia do not get a bonus for fighting cav (probably because they would be an ill disciplined/ill trained mish-mash with various arms.) Other units like Triarii, libyan spearmen, and auxiliary infantry get a rather small bonus vs. cav. It is listed as "+4" under "mount_effects" in the file. This does not seem to be sufficient since cav get considerable charge bonuses and the like, while these units typically already have lower attack because of their type of arms... I suspect CA will address this. Phalanx/pike units have some hard coded bonuses vs. cav, and these seem to be particularly powerful for long_pike type units while in phalanx (as they should be.)

Other useful stuff to know: unit speed (and mass) for cavalry, chariots, camels, chariots, and elephants is determined by the "mount." There are at least three types of horse: light, medium, and heavy. Some light cav ride "medium horse." There are two varieties of elephant: forest and African (not counting the "oliphants.") I wonder if we will ever see an Indian version for an Alexander type?

Soulflame has made an excellent unit guide that I use regularly. Download it here:

Can you not just double click the unit card to bring up a unit statistics scroll with all their attack defence etc. It also shows their abilites like sapping or bonus fighting cavalry etc.

You can, NM, but only for your units. So it's impossible in-game to judge the relative strength of units between factions. Soulflame's guide is a very handy resource for this.

    (nitpick)

That's not entirely true. You can usually see the stats of your enemy armies on the campaign map if you have a spy investigate them. Similarly on the battlemap, you can pause and bring up the unit description there as long as they are in visual range.

    (end nitpick)

Notwithstanding this, it is useful to be able to see the various stats in one place. I use Soulflame's excellent guide as well. You can find various other useful guides in the Forum Index thread, which is pinned in the Colosseum, or you can click here. Whichever takes your fancy.
