You have to under stand that professional devolopers computers are probably 3 times more powerful than ours. I've seen it allueded to in print that the video cards that someone who works for CA would have are twice as beefie as anything we could get our hands on.
Not quite. See Rome is not very graphics intensive, Rome mainly taxes the cpu and RAM, it does not use advanced lighting effects and such so even though your card is a part of it is not extremely important. Much more important is the processor and RAM. If you got a good Athlon 64 like a 3800 or FX-53 and some fast RAM, cas latency 2 or so and a competent video card you would be fine for the bigger battles, maybe not for 29k men but definately for 10k. On my relatively old machine with a 2.8HTIntel, a 9600 PRO, 1024 of Kingston DDR 3200 (400mhz) RAM cas latency 3 and a decent motherboard I can get tolerable frame rates with 6000 men in the field most of whom are being AI controlled. Once I upgrade to an FX-55 and 6800 GT with 1024 of cas latency 2 RAM I will be quite well off indeed!![]()
