Hehe, who wants to play doctor phil?
But anyways I thought we should have a thread were people could post and recommend books that are connected to the shougon era.
My recommendations are Shougon by James Clavell and Shike by Robert Shea.

Sounds like an excellent idea.
Its just too bad I can't find any more books about samurai where I live, so far I found and read the above mentioned books and Musashi by Yoshikawa Eijei.
This woman should pay for me the many times I have plugged her work on this site.
Laura Joh Rowland mysteries with Inspector Ichiro Sano - chief inspector to Lord Tokugawa Tsuneyoshi. Titles include:
Shinju, Bundori, Way of the Traitor, the Concubine's Tattoo, Samurai's Wife, and the Black Lotus.
I'll admit it: as a failed author I am green with envy that I can't spin a tale half as good as she can. Nevertheless that hasn't stopped me from reading her work.

I take refuge in the Buddha.
Ceterum Censeo delendus est Bin Ladin.
Another bood by Eiji Yoshikawa is "Taiko"
It is all about this period.
I would also suggest "The unfettered mind" by Takuan Soho:
"The Sword and the Mind" by the Yagyu Family
I will have more for you when I leave the office!
