Shogun problems & queries

I'm a new member, I've been playing Shogun for a month now, I'd played MTW before. My version (Warlord Edition v1.00) seems to have some bugs in. The techtree shows the prices and time of each building, but in the game all are half price and take half as long, port 750 koku and 5 seasons, sword dojo 500 koku and 4 seasons. Is this wrong or is the techtree at fault?

I've tried installing the 1.02 We patch from totalwar.org downloads, but it finds a fault and won't install, should I be applying a different one?

Do the units have the same bonuses as in Medieval, the spearman ranks, polearms v cavalry, cavalry bad in trees etc?

V1.02 beta is the correct patch for Warlords Edition, so I don't know what is wrong. Perhaps the Patch you downloaded is for the wrong version? You can see all the versions on the Totalwar.com download page.

Yes and no: yari troops have a bonus against cavalry and cavalry are poor in woods, but there are no rank or armour-piercing bonuses. There is no pole-arm bonus either but yari cavalry does get a bonus against other cavalry. Also, if cavalry charges yari troops frontally they won't receive a charge bonus.

I cannot help you with your tech tree problem, since the tech tree I have does not show build time or unit costs. The numbers you mentioned sound correct to me so I guess the problem is with your tech tree.
