Thread: Mouse tracers

    Question Mouse tracers

Howdie folks, after installing patch 1.1 on a vinalla copy of RTW things have went a bit funny!!! The two opening movies dont play it just cuts straight to the options menu. When moving the mouse around it leaves copys of the cursor arrow all over the screen where it has been.Although the menu still works.

A friend tells me that he read somewhere that if playing as the senate this bug/fault will cause the game to crash if I open the senate window, as well as if I capture a wonder or eliminate a faction.

So whats going on folks? tried reinstalling but no change.

Is the patch bugged? Or am I yet again doing something dumb?

Try reinstalling then patching, before you mod anything. That will at least confirm or deny your senate theory. AFAIK, the patch has no noticeable bugs in that department. It was really a MP patch.

How are your graphics drivers? Up to date? That would be my next area of inspection.

Most of the reports of trailing mouse/missing videos seems to be attributed to the lack of windows media format 9. Try reinstalling that and see if it fixes the problem.

Why would it stop working after being fine since the day after it came out?

I have no idea. I'm not sure if that's relevant at this point.

I just know that I had the same situation happen when I installed on my laptop, and that's because I neglected to install the wmv9. Once I installed it, the game worked fine.

Is this the windows program from the redist file on the RTW disk?

Yes, it's on the first one. When the install screen pops up, go to "extras". It should be the third option down.
