Default Multiple CTDs on same battle

I have now fought the same battle 4 times and gotten a CTD (crash to desktop) at the end of it each time. Prior to this, the game was pretty stable crashing maybe once every 10 hours or so.

    Anyway, here's the situation:

I'm playing Parthians and I have the Pontian capital under siege with my faction leader and 6 or so units of horse archers/persian cav.

The Pontians have 4 armies in the area, one big three small. One of the small armies is their faction leader.

What typically happens is they attack me with two of the armies (about 800 men) first, I win, then they immediately attack me with two small armies and I win again, at which point it goes CTD.

    Questions:

    - Does this correspond with known causes of CTDs? (e.g., multiple battles and multiple armies, faction leaders and capitals involved, perhaps even the elimination of Pontus' last family members - lots of campaign map fall-out)

    - Any ideas on how to avoid it? I'd hate to have to give the Pontians a break.

Save it before the second battle. Use CTRL - S to do this. you can save the game while the comp is moving. Ince you save it e-mail it too CA. Also you may want to send them the saved game prior to the first battle.

This way they can hopefully find the bug and fix it in the patch. Just hoped your not to attached to the game as your only solution might be to go back to a prior save for the time being.

Go back to a previous turn save. You do save only at the beginning of each turn, correct? Late turn saves are notorious for producing save game corruptions. If you always save each turn with the same name, you are asking for trouble if one gets corrupted (because it will likely carry over into subsequent saves.) Obviously, your present save game is corrupt unless you have corruptions in some underlying files. You might get lucky and somehow slip past the corruption with an in-between battle save, but it is a longshot.

Since it crashes on you once every 10 hours or so, you need to do periodic saves with new names at the beginning of the turn. There are some memory leaks in the game, but it is more stable and less crash prone than MTW/VI was.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

Actually this sounds rather similar to something I'm exeriencing. Playing Brutii I've been slapping the Egyptians around Turkey were the game frequently crashes whereas before it never crashed. Not once. And only late in the battle as I'm mopping up. Is their some feature associated with Asia Minor that might be causing problems? A map feature leaking memory or some modifier causing the game to fall over itself?
