Thread: Problem with Caledonian Highlander

    Default Problem with Caledonian Highlander

The TWRealism mod has a Caledonian Highlander. I purchased two but in battle, they appeared as Gaulish swordsmen.

I checked the export_unit_desc file and the Caledonian Highlander soldier section referenced the "highlanders". So I checked the descr_model_battle file and the soldier "highlanders" was correct. So I checked the TGA file referenced. It referenced the "unit_highlanders.TGA" for all owning factions. Then I checked to see if the highlander TGA was available in the textures file. It was. I opened the TGA using the DXTbmp tool and the highlander has a unique look for the highlanders.

Yet both in campaign and custom battles, the Caledonian highlander is using the Gaul swordsmen TGA. I can't figure out why. The only remote thoughts is that it might be related to the unit being a mercenary or that the unit is using the Gaul swordsman skin. But I am not sure why. I am stumped. Everything seems to be referenced correctly.

    Any ideas out there?

PS: Anybody else having problems posting on the TWC forum. I would ask there since the Realism mod is hosted by the TWC forum but I have never been able to post on that TWC forum. I can't even post on the newbie forum. I tried contacting the admin but never, never got a response.

    Found the problem.

The descr_model file text for the Highlander was lacking a TGA reference for merc ownership. Without it, all mercs and Briton, which can build the unit, defaulted to the vanilla TGA for the gaul swordsmen.

    Funny little problem.
