I got a surprise last night on my new Thracian campaign.

Started off invading a few rebel provinces, now I have the regions stretching from Illyria to Byzantium. In doing so I didn't have to declare war on any faction, but struck up Alliances with the following factions:

1) Macedon
2) Greek Cities
3) Brutii
4) Senate
5) Dacia
6) Scythia
7) Pontus

Please bear in mind that Macedon and the Greeks were at war for a while, then the Macedonians were trapped in one remaining province and must have bartered peace with the Greeks. I'd been Macedon's allies until this point and neutral with the Greeks. After the Macedonians became neutral with the Greeks the Greeks immediately sent a diplomat to one of mine loitering in the area and offered: Alliance, Trade Rights, Map Information. Wow! What an offer! Wait, that isn't the surprise.

The surprise is that those Greeks then went and attacked the Macedonians, which I supported because I wanted a good ally like them - and THEN THEY ATTACKED ME!

Hmmm... Greeks = no allies

6) Scythia
