I'm playing as the Julii on VH-VH and its after ruining the game. It's way too easy. I hope CA bring out harder difficulty levels.
Note: don't expect to win battles on VH-VH without a general though...makes sense, no general, no army!

Considering the Romans have the most powerful units, that's no big deal to win battles after battles, you're even supposed to do so.
Try another faction...

Are you playing everyone on stock? Try downloading the Total Realism mod.

The Julii is probably the easiest faction in the game. Try playing any of the factions who weren't intended to be playable and you'll see. Except for Macedon, I don't actually understand why they weren't made playable.

try Parthia, seriously the hardest faction I've played yet. Then again I haven't tried Spain or Numidia. Basically the only way to take heavily fortified cities is through starving the citizens out (at the beginning of the game anyway)
