I still have to persuade myself to start an Oda campaign...
I can't tear myself away from the cav of the Takeda and the archers from clan Uesegi...I also occasionally took the green clan, cause I liked their strategical place on the map...

This is the clan I play most as, but I take it much more slowly. I also play on Hard, and start at 1530 (I like to build up from scratch). I find that the first 4-6 turns are the hardest, because you have rebels, Takeda, and Hojo all attacking you. After I fend off all the attacks I consolidate and build up. I take all the rebel provinces behind me, then unleash my wrath upon the Takeda, Hojo, Imigawa, and Oda. Then the rest of the game is basically a mop-up operation. BTW I almost never use cavs. I use Buddhist Monks for attacking, and spearmen/archers with a few buddhists for defending. This has worked for me in most of my games, although the monks can be a bit hard to produce and maintain as they are quite pricey.

In the Uesugi 1530 campaign I find Kozuke to be a poor place for my HQ, so on the first turn I raze everything for extra starting koku and move all my troops into Musashi and rebuild there. Musashi is rich and much easier to defend with the river. Abandoning Kozuke creates a vaccuum and thins out the rebs nearby a little as they move in to occupy it (with one unit, which doesn't threaten me in Musashi). I bribe Shimosa asap, another river province and easy to defend, and this creates a nice defensible front. I then take Kazusa (which provides better emissaries), and bribe Shimotsuke, Hitachi, and Mutsu (Mutsu having a nice collection of troops) as soon as I can afford to (being sure I have additional troops or shinobi to add to the garrisons, to avoid rebellion). I try to bribe Dewa too, as there is a unit of No Dachi there which is handy to have early on. As you described, once I have the Eastern lands lands under my control, I turn my attention on Hojo and Takeda. It is easy to keep them at bay until this point because Musashi is so easy to defend.

I find that sometimes it is good to take a step back and then leap forward 5. I approach many of the campaigns this way now, as oftentimes starting positions are tenuous at best.

Mmm, Oda. My favourite clan because they are always the underdogs in all the campaigns (unless I am taking them).

Winning with arquebus is nearly impossible at expert. It is possible with muskets though,

Would you consider Oda to be more disadvantaged than Tokugawa at the start of the 1580 campaign?

with MORI or SHIMAZU i think, or maybe Uesugi at niveau HARD

i bought the game (warlord version) few weeks ago!

ODA in the beginning is fucking hard, i think! when I was uesugi, oda didn't stand a chance against those priest-warriors of the rebels!

I really dislike HOJO because they destroyed my allie takeda last campaign

adrianII , winning with ashigaru is very hard, i don't use them at all
due to you if you can win with only them!

Ichi, what kind of armies do you usually make and what strategy do you use mostly?

DS, legionary, you probably don't kill much enemies in a battle without cavalry, you nearly can't chase them without it? or don't you mind?
The first turns are very hard with uesugi!
I took first hojo, imagawa alreay attacked my and takeda was my allie(for a short time)

@drisos, I'm not really good at using Cavalry, so I don't use them (Although I will use my Daimyo to chase routing enemies if he is in the battle. I much prefer Warrior Monks/Archers. They are very versatile, and they can take on almost anything with success. I lure then enemy in with archers, and then charge them on the front and both sides with my monks. I find that there is no need to 'chase' my enemy as he routs, as there is generally not much of an enemy left to chase.

Take it easy (pun intended), you'll get there eventually. By the way, landgenoot, arquebuse means 'haakbus'. It's a 'bus' (gun) mounted on a 'haak' (Old Dutch for 'vorkstok' = 'forked stick') to make for a stable firing platform. And m8 means 'mate', originally Ozzie for 'pal' as in: 'G'day, mate.' Wij zouden zeggen: 'vent' of 'knul'.

It is very hard in the beginning of a campaign when they have low Valour, but once that picks up it gets easier. And you should use them together with your daimyo and other heavies whenever possible. Good luck, Drisos, and let's hear about your progress!
