I think it's entirely realistic that if a fleet (or indeed a land army) has no line of retreat and is defeated, then they are lost. Definately not for the patch IMHO.

in a large confilct between 2 fleets (in rtw 10 ships each and more) fully manned, atleast 1 ship should be destroyed!

Regarding sinking fleets, get the Naval command stars fix first and foremost, without this your admiral doesnt get more than 2 stars.

My seven star fleet rules the waters, i sink many fleets, i dont surround them either. Sure they run away after a battle, but they keep coming back for more, and i keep getting XP :) I may not be able to destroy a fleet in one passing, but the whole eastern sea from Cyreanica in Africa and Sparta in Greece is completely devoid of enemy ships. I have my fleets mostly around what was Greece, and any navy i dont want in my hood gets sent packing. I have about 5 fleets. 1 full 20 ship stack and the rest 10 to 15. I dont even need that many fleets, but once you get an admiral theres no going back.

Besides the AI is useless with boats, who cares if they have a bunch of little fleets floating around.

When this high star fleet attacks(composition is mostly bireme/tireme with 3-4 Quinqs) lets say a lone bireme. The bireme sinks.

    Get the Admiral Stars fix.

Oh yea i play on VH/VH, the bireme in my example wouldnt do my fleet any damage. At the very most, 2-10 men, dead.

But naval battles on equal terms (equal number of ships, equavilant ship types dont send a Bireme fleet to kill quinqs!, and equal command stars) are usually very expensive. So i get stars by picking on the little fleets first.

LOL i have about five different spellings for trireme/bireme/quinqs. These have got to be the toughest words to spell ever. I bet even that Jeopardy savant couldn't spell em right.

Could you leave a link here? It's very frustrating to be dominated at sea on PH settings when you can't do anything but auto-resolve...

It has been posted a few weeks ago: Admiral gain/lose command star fix

I'm not using it, but I think auto-resolving on Hard or Very Hard will cause the AI fleets to gain stars easier than you will.
