I just wanted to hep everyone to a couple of really fun free Star Wars games available for download.
They are the "Battle of Yavin" and the "Battle of Endor". Both were done by a modder named Bruno R. Marcos. They were very well reviewed in one of the gaming magazines a while back. I downloaded these babies a couple of months ago and had a great time with them.
The games are very cinematic arcade-like simulations of the space battles at the climax of Star Wars and Return of the Jedi.
One of the nice features of these games is that you're not all alone taking on the Imperial fleet. I'm not talking about a couple of wingmen either. You start Yavin in a group of 30 rebel fighters. Endor has whole FLEETS clashing, including an array of capital ships on both sides. Keeping your buddies alive is key in both games.
Go check it out. Lots of cool arcade-like space combat. Star Wars music. Super Star Destroyers. The Millenium Falcon. 'Nuff said.
Someone has already modded the mod and created a Star Trek Battle for Cardassia mod using the Endor game.
You can get the mods at http://www.bruneras.com/
For those of you who like WWII, the developer of this mod is using what he learned from the Star Wars mods to create a new WWII air war shareware game with levels set in both the Pacific and European theaters. Looks pretty good.
