I really want to get hold of a Japanese copy of this on PAL format... or perhaps even DVD. I don't mind subtitles.. but I would rather not have them.

I can handle the non-subtitled part, but PAL is tough, since neither Japan nor the US use it. I'll keep my eyes open.

I have no idea why Europe uses PAL. I don't even know which system is superior, PAL or NTSC.

I know some people in the US from European and South American nations have PAL-to-NTSC converters. I don't know how well they work.

I buy a lot of Japanese videos, and I'm glad we use the same format convention. I would be pretty frustrated if they differed.

I'm a big fan of standardization, once a good pioneer system is fully developed (usually by Mitsushita or Sony).

That goes for electrical voltage and measuring systems, too.

I remember it a while ago in Australia...

NTSC is more superior than PAL. But only marginally.

I remember when they were talking about it with the PSX release. Apparently you get a quicker refresh rate with NTSC signal than PAL. Most TV's here in OZ play both. Its the damned region code that is the big obstacle from me getting anything on DVD in the states.
