    Default Changing weapons for units.

    How do I do this?

Here's what I want - I would like to change a unit's weapon. For example, have the Roman Heavy Cavalry unit use swords instead of spears. And when I say swords, I don't mean those short ones. I'm talking about those that are similar to the ones used in Medieval times.

Please point me to the right link(s) for the tutorials as most of the tutorials are for skinning units. I'm not interested in doing that - yet. Right now, I would like to just change the weapons.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert but I can't see possibility of doing that without using 3d max.I have replaced swords in some of cavalry units (picture below) but you would probabaly need to edit CAS file.Switching weapons by editing tex RTW files is not a problem but it would be short sword

Maly Jacek, that's EXACTLY what I want to do! How did you do it? Do you mind writing a tutorial? Like, what file do I open... what to edit... how to edit it... etc.

I really want to do this. I just spent over 580 bucks for both 3D Studio Max 7.0 and Photoshop 7.0!

Thanks for showing me that it can be done!

Nevermind, I found the tutorials. :)

OK, let's say I edited the weapons... I made those with knife-like swords have REAL swords, how about the effectiveness of that newly-created weapon? Can you edit that too? I don't want to have, like, a 15 ft. long sword (exaggeration) with the effectiveness of a 6 inch knife in battle.

Thats the easy part, also, the much cheaper one

Once your model is working all fine, just alter the export_descr_unit.txt entry for that unit. The attribute your looking for is (I presume) the primary weapon's, alter as you see fit.

    Now editing -
    export_descr_unit.txt, export_descr_unit_enums.txt, export_units.txt, descr_model_battle.txt
    export_descr_buildings.txt, export_descr_buildings_enums.txt, export_buildings.txt

So let's say I want my Princepes to use long swords, in the export_descr_unit, what do I need to change there? I'm guessing it's this line:

    stat_pri 13, 2, pilum, 35, 2, thrown, blade, piercing, spear, 25 ,1

How do I make them use swords (assuming my model is working fine)? In fact, is there any unit in the game that uses swords? Perhaps I can just cut/paste... hmm, time for a ctrl+f in that file...

One more question, in this next line, what does "prec" and "ap" mean? The attribute "thrown" in there is pretty explanatory but what about the other two?

    stat_pri_attr prec, thrown, ap

    Thanks.
