I've seen the wall lake, but I didn't have any trouble with CTD. I just moved all the action away from that wall.
Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.
I didn't even have to avoid the lake I just played through it and it never CTD'd.

I got lucky as well. Saw it on two sides of the city when I attacked, was lucky or smart enough to hit it on a dry side and it wasn't an issue.
The Egyptians didn't have the manpowere to mount a real defense so I just rolled over them.
The water didnt appear inside the walls when I attacked, only outside.

The water in mine was both inside, and outside the wall. This might be a function of city size, since I think the footprint increases with upgrades. Probably a bit of of terrain is set to an elevation below map sea level.

Yeah, I've seen that too - a nasty flickery thing it is, and no mistake. Although it did help me in one siege when I was defending with a small force, as the computer put the enemy's only sap point smack in the middle of the 'flood', rendering it unusable... I wasn't sure if it was a bug, or just a problem with my graphics card/drivers (ATI 9800PRO) - I'd be interested to hear if this happens to those with NVidia cards so it could be ruled out of the equation (although the 'below sea level' idea sounds like the winner to me.)
Yes, it does. Though I don't recall the flickering.Originally Posted by Zatoichi

Hmm... I've been seiging Alexandria too. My sap points are somehow submerged in the pond!
